Catch and Release Opening Day Weekend 2010

Graphic by Bill McElroy

Saturday worked out far better than the dreary forecast led us to believe. East winds were stiff at first but slowed to something manageable and the heavy rain never showed. All of this gave us many options to get on fish all the way up and down the U.S. shoreline.

It’s easy to compare this year with last. As I write this a temperature of 20 degrees at this time last year comes to mind but that exaggeration just makes the reality of the last few beautiful weeks that much better. The season is advancing fast which puts us ahead of last year and in front of most years for that matter. The temperatures are supposed to reach the 70’s toward the end of this week. This all points to a great time to get out on the Lake, take advantage of the new early catch and release season and the fast bite brought on by unseasonably warm temps.

Note: The Selfridge launch only had three docks out.
